Two Pieces

Image
Here's two finished pieces. I find that it's easier to paint the whole page first, allowing it to dry, to then add on the second layer. It's much easier, than trying to line up edges and dealing with keeping the colours thick and consistent.

It's fine

Turns out Acrylic paint dries wonderfully. Applying the masking tape over existing paint was no bother in the end. As long as I applied my de-stickiness technique, everything went fine. This is the test page I chose to expand on. Not much to work with. So i addded red. A lot of red. Too much in fact. It clashes horribly. Horribly . So I added more to it. I chose green, as it would bring forward the blue, and yellow as it was a friend of green. And this is the final product. I like it much better now.

Masking

So I decided to create some sharp edges/lines. Purchased some masking tape from B&M and got started. Unfortunately, I did not remember to reduce stickiness of the tape before applying it.  Oh well, we live and learn. Also, the tear kinda adds a mood to it. I abandoned that one and moved on to lighter colours. Hoping my sticky-reducing tactic had worked. It did. And I left it at that. I hadn't yet tried to stick tape back on top of my paint. Honestly, I was kinda scared to. But that's the next step.  Gotta paint all over. Gotta finish these up.

I've been painting

So, I've been painting, I guess. I've just been mixing up some colours. Whacking it on a page. Mostly I've been watching Naruto tbh.  But I find this kind of painting strange. I'm not painting things. I've always painted things. Now I'm just painting.  Some feel unfinished, but I don't know what they need yet.  So I'm just painting. I haven't even bothered with the linear inking on top. I can't think of what the paint needs on top. Such a strange way of thinking for me. A strange way of painting. It's so different. I'm not priming all of them, so you can still see some of the questions underneath lol This one, I reversed the paintbrush and scored a strange flower in to the paint. Just wanted to see  what it would look like. Interesting; as I had a couple of layers on this one, and some layers had started to dry.

I'm locked up

So, due to the coronavirus loitering around the world, I've found myself with a lot of free time. I haven't had free time in ... Well, quite a while. I dug out my paints, and thought I'd try messing about with them. Turns out I've forgotten how to paint. So I must mess about, until it comes back to me. Here is a couple of weird experiments.  I can still draw though.  I like the effect and will try more linear art on top of acrylic gradients. It has a really simple look that I like. Also I'm currently painting in an old work book. I don't need it anymore, and they don't need it back.  So meh, why not? Will need to prime each page though. Let's see what I end up with.
